Direct from the winery, one. of the most transcendently delicious library Beaujolais’ I’ve ever tasted. There’s not much else I can say beyond my strongest recommendation except that Pierre Overnoy served it recently to his harvest interns with great satisfaction. Super limited!

WineBerserker’s own Otto_Forsberg: Chamonard’s Beaujolais wines have always been some of the best I know. They are often very stern and structured, yet incredibly fragrant and expressive in taste. They are stunning upon release and can age effortlessly for a decade or two. Really peak Beaujolais for me - and this bottle I had aged since its release was no exception.

  Excellent at this age. Good blackcurrant and plum notes. Alongside some fennel seed aromas. Good structure and very well integrated oak. Very smooth and balanced.

  He was very enthusiastic about this, and it shows why. Really beautiful fresh red fruits and a touch of cream. Slight sous bois hiding beneath. Really showing well here at 10 years of age.

Coming from 3.5 hectares of massale selected vines, with an average age of 60 years mainly from parcels located in the localities: Le Colombier (near Corcelette), Les Grands Cras, Les Chênes and Château Gaillard. The grapes are hand-harvested at optimum maturity. The whole clusters are put into vats for semi-carbonic vinification and the fermentation begins spontaneously thanks to the indigenous yeasts. Carbonic maceration lasts on average between 12 and 30 days, pressing is done with an old vertical wooden press and the second part of fermentation takes place in vats then ends in casks, demi-muits and old wood barrels. Rest on the lees for 8 to 10 months.
