2022 Dagueneau Buisson Renard
2022 Dagueneau Buisson Renard
The 2022 Buisson Renard from Didier Dagueneau is a precise and concentrated Sauvignon Blanc from a single plot on the flinty slopes of Saint-Andelain in Pouilly-Fumé. Originally called Buisson Menard, the site was renamed following a journalist’s error—an anecdote embraced by Dagueneau, whose legacy as a pioneering force in Loire Valley white wines continues under his son Louis-Benjamin. The vineyard’s silex (flint) soils contribute to the Sauvignon Blancs trademark tension and mineral backbone. Fermented and aged in large-format, mostly neutral barrels (450–600L), the wine shows Dagueneau’s signature balance of power and precision. The 2022 vintage delivered excellent ripeness and clarity, producing a wine with aromas of citrus peel, elderflower, and crushed herbs, and a palate that’s tightly wound, with saline grip and a long, pithy finish—a benchmark for age-worthy, terroir-driven Sauvignon Blanc.
